How to find your Hunter Thermostat model number?

The good thing about locating the model number for Hunter digital thermostats is that the whole process is relatively painless. All you have to do is lift the flap covering the thermostat panel. Although, for models like the 44377 that have no covering, you may have to refer to the back of the thermostat panel.

Hunter Thermostat  Instructions

Not knowing the model number will generally result in a drawn-out process of finding the right manual. But we’ve got you covered! Instead of scrolling through endless pages on Google to find the right manual, you can rely on our manual compilation – complete with images to find your manual of choice.

It’s essential you locate the right manual to get the answers you need. The wrong manual means incorrect info regarding wiring, installation, etc.

As far as the information contained with Hunter thermostat manuals is concerned, you can choose to flip to the relevant heading by checking out the extensive Table of Contents (ToC). From the ToC, you’ll be able to locate heading that deal with different issues such as :

  • Introduction: Deals with all the pre-installation details you need and the features of the thermostat.
  • Installation: This heading contains all the information you’ll require during the installation process, such as the tools you’ll need, how to remove your old thermostat, how the wire labeling works, etc.)
  • Programming: The programming section lays out all the aspects involved in setting up your thermostat to run. So, for example, you’ll find topics like how to set the time and day or how auto-programming works.
  • Operations: explains how the different components of the thermostat function in-depth. If you want to learn the purpose of the system selector switch – this is the heading you’ll refer to.

Safety Features: As the heading name clarifies, this section is dedicated to all the thermostat safety features, like the low-battery warning or auto-cut off.

Hunter Thermostat Troubleshooting

If your thermostat is displaying an error message that you’ve not dealt with before, the best thing to do is turn to the ‘troubleshooting’ section of the instructions manual. Not only does this part of the manual list out all the possible error messages you can encounter, but it also lists out how to deal with them. You can also find the number of the technical support group at the end of this section, in case you require special assistance.

Here are a few examples of the kind of problems you’ll be able to solve with this section:

  • Scrambled or double display
  • No display
  • Entire Display Dims
  • Program does not change at your desired setting
  • Auto/Fan does not turn on
  • Heating or cooling does not go on or off

Types of Hunter Thermostats

Hunter is a brand that has been around since 1886, and the company makes all types of home comfort related products. However, when it comes to Hunter thermostats, you’re likely to run into two types:

Non-Programmable Thermostats

This type of thermostat is pretty basic. Its operation is limited to switching the heating/ cooling system on (or off), setting the temperature, and operating the fan. Although, some manual thermostats by Hunter may have additional features like backlighting or a digital display.

Programmable Thermostats

Programmable thermostats offer you the ease of setting the temperature according to a schedule. That means you can set a different temperature for the time you’re at home and another for when you’re not. There’s quite a few options when it comes to programmable thermostats, but with Hunter, you’re more likely to find 5-2 or 7-day programmable thermostats.

  • 5-2 programmable thermostats allow you to set a series of temperatures for weekdays and a separate set for weekends.
  • 7-day programmable thermostats allow you to set different temperature settings for all days of the week.

You’ve likely heard about or run into Smart or WiFi thermostats. Both the aforementioned types of thermostats are quite useful for energy conservation, but they’re not available in the Hunter product line up.

About Hunter

The Hunter brand has a long and illustrious history. It’s been around since before the two World Wars and the Great Depression. In fact, the company was formed by John Hunter and his son in 1886 – after they had managed to create the first water-driven ceiling fan. Pretty cool, right?

It wasn’t long before the company took off, and their products were shipped to places like the Far East, Africa, and India. However, even the company continues to combine old school craftsmanship with innovative technology and designs. The Hunter product lineup includes various types of fans, heaters, humidifiers, and of course, thermostats.
