Our Misson
Established in 2019, Smart Home Perfected is an independent resource dedicated to helping homeowners navigate the fast-paced world of home automation. Our mission is simple: we cut through the confusing technical jargon to educate readers on how to easily and effectively upgrade their homes.
What We Cover
Because the smart home umbrella is incredibly broad, we organize our expert advice into five core categories:
- Smart Living: Transform your daily routines with automated strategies—from smart lighting and robot vacuums to automated pet feeders and garden tools.
- Entertainment: Build a fully connected living room with the latest on Smart TVs, next-gen home theaters, and media streaming devices.
- Safety & Security: Protect what matters most with in-depth reviews on wireless security cameras, video doorbells, smart locks, and environmental sensors.
- Hubs & Networks: Master the brain of your smart home. We provide educational guides on lightweight hubs (Alexa, Google Home), local systems (Home Assistant, Hubitat), and the protocols that make them work (Zigbee, Z-Wave, Thread, Matter).
- HVAC & Utilities: Optimize your climate and lower energy bills using smart thermostats, advanced heating controls, and intelligent utility monitoring.
Our History & Evolution
Smart Home Perfected was originally founded in 2019 by software engineer Daniel Walsh as a personal passion project. What started as DIY experiments with complex triggers in Home Assistant rapidly expanded into a fully integrated smart home resource built on rigorous, hands-on testing.
As the IoT industry exploded, so did our scope. In 2023, Smart Home Perfected evolved from a single-author blog into a comprehensive editorial publication. Today, our dedicated team of enthusiasts, researchers, and writers continues that original legacy of hands-on testing. While the technology evolves at lightning speed, our commitment remains exactly the same: providing clear, independent, and expert advice to help you build the perfect smart home.
